STILL GOT THE BLUES.....

I'm still overwhelmed by the success of the 102 Dermarians who got straight A's in the PMR recently... Really, I did not expect it at all... I  was sort of " hah..?? ". Seriously....
Let's see from the beginning:
January:  This group of Form 3 was below par. From the previous year assessment (Form 2), nobody got straight A's in their Form 2's Final Year exam.
February: Most of the students were involved in so many school activities. 20 of them were in the Brass Band, practising almost everyday...morning and afternoon, weekdays and weekends. 80 more were involved in sports such as athletics, hoki, soccer, netball.. In fact, I think only 10 of them are timid, in the sense that they are bookworms... The rest are very active in all sorts of  co-curricular activities!!
March:  The school was having problems with teachers teaching in form 3. There was a shortage of experience teachers, so "they" sent untrained teachers to teach the Form 3s...
May:  The mid-year exam results was terrible and horrible !!! Some of them did not even pass subjects like History and Science. Even Maths !!!   I could still remember those facts...
June:  I was summoned by the then Headmistress to teach the Form 3s because parents where complaining the Form 3s were not getting good teachers... I had 7 topics to finish before the Trial Exam !!!
August:  The Trial Exam was on.  You know what?? Only 2 student obtained straight A's........
September: The school was panic !! Everybody was... Last year 76 students got straight A's in the PMR. Where were we to find another 74 students who would get straight A's ????  We just did what was best for these guys.. Pep talks, motivational talks, camps, extra classes in the afternoon and at night !!
Parents didn't complained...
October:  The PMR exam... Every morning, just before the PMR papers, we would call all candidates for a brief motivational pep talk and say a little prayer together...., irrespective of religion. We said the same prayer: "To do our very best in the PMR, may God help us.."
November: We went through all sort of activities after the exam.. One peculiar thing I noticed: Everybody came to school everyday!!! All the Form 3s !!! Mind you, it's after the exam !! and these Form 3 students came to school to run the activities everyday !! Woooo... I was....huh.... You know, we had to chartered 3 buses to Genting Highlands and Malacca to ferry these students as one of our activities after PMR...
December: You know what happened ....History was created as 102 students got straight A's in the PMR. Never before we had that sort of achievement !!
Thanks guys for this moment of history...

Till today... I've still got the blues.....

SCHOOL FEES 2010 - pay until December...

Beginning next year, school fees can be paid anytime from January to December ... It was announced by the Ministry of Education today...
The fees are not that much, by the way.. Usually it is below RM100 (USD 28) per year.., for normal government school in Malaysia.

So, parents need not worry about bringing money to school on the first day of school in 2010. Just make sure that your kids go to school on the first day of school, that is, on Monday, the 4th of January, 2010.

See you in school ........

SIR ALEX FERGUSON vs RAFAEL BENITEZ...

1.  Man United = Sir Alex Ferguson : Liverpool = Rafael Benitez (No Sir)
2.  Manchester United = Red Devils :  Liverpool = Reds
3.  Manchester United lost 3-0 (last game) : Liverpool lost 2-0 (last game)

Conclusion: You don't sack Sir Alex Ferguson...... BUT,
You CAN sack Rafael Benitez !!!!

Why wait ????  Why the delay ????

6th BEST in the COUNTRY !!!

SMK DERMA is ranked 6th Best PMR 2009 results in Malaysia !! This was reported in the dailies today based on the achievement of the PMR 2009 examination for normal daily schools....
That's the job done by the 102 Dermarians.. Very well done guys !!!
It's a good start for SMK Derma...

While buying the local newspapers this morning, I came across a few Derma students in town. A group of  form 3 students wishes me "Good Morning" (that's normal for Dermarians), and I asked them:
"What are you all doing in town on Christmas Day??"
" We're going for tuition...., Add Maths...", they replied.
"Since when?".., I asked them back.
"Since November 21st..," they said.

Hmm, that's the spirit Dermarians have.. They are always doing what's best for their future.... Those Form 3 students are already going for private tuition on subjects to be learned in Form 4..., next year!!!
Back home, I found out those students are the ones getting 7 A's... That's the spirit guys !!!! Prepare for the next SPM exams in 2011....

Have a good day.....

Highest Ever Straight A's for SMK DERMA in PMR.

The 102 Dermarians who achieved the full straight A's with the Perlis's Director of  Education. Notice that all the students are in school uniform !! Siapa lah guru disiplin ...

Yeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssss....!!!! We've made it!!! Best ever PMR results over the years.. Never before have we achieved 102 candidates getting straight A's in the PMR...   2009 is the year !!!  Last year only 76 got straight A's...And there are 36 "a little bit unlucky" students who obtained 7 A's and 1 B... And "English" was the subject that stopped them from getting the full straight A's...There were 173 candidates altogether. Nobody failed any subjects, of course.
That made SMK Derma as "one of the best results in the country" for a daily school....

What a relief... All the hard work finally paid off.. That afternoon classes.. Those night classes.. Those changes made in the official school Time Table...Incidently, I was made to teach three Form 3 classes in the middle of the year to make sure that these PMR students get the best out of the best....And.., I'm proud to have 102 out of 173 students getting the maximum 8 straight A's.......
Thank you guys for making SMK DERMA proud !!!
Thank you everybody who helped made this history...
DERMARIANS  BOLEH !!!!!

Congratulations to Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor (my former school) for getting the Best PMR results in the country ... I'm double proud to hear the latest news from TV3.... "Tahniah" to both schools !!!
Congratulations to Kolej Yayasan Saad of Malacca (Daeng's former school) for getting ALL straight A's in the PMR (three years in a row !!!). You are the "best private school" in Malaysia!!! 3 years in a row !!!

The happy guys...
The cheerful straight A's gals....
Syntra with my three Daengs..(Dhariry, Dhamiry and Dhadyry)

Students getting their results......with Mr. Jamal (JPN Perlis) observing.....
The Perlis Education Director, Mr Mansor Lat, giving away the PMR result slips...

SMK Derma and SM Sains Selangor both have something in common......So does Kolej Yayasan Saad.... Hmmm....
Macam ada sesuatu la.....

Woooooooooohhhhhhh....  102 straight A's  !!!!   Congratulations  Dermarians !!!!!

PERLIS.....WHAT IS THERE TO OFFER ??

Friday 10.00 am: " Bang, tumpang tanya.. , mana jalan ke Padang Besar?"(may I asked the way to Padang Besar?), asked a young couple in a maroon Honda Civic
Saturday 9.00 am: "Excuse me, can you show me the way to Wang Kelian.." asked the driver of a  Malacca registered red MPV.
Saturday 11.00am: "Which is the way to Gua Kelam?, asked a middle aged man in a Johore registered white Toyota Vios.

I asked myself:  I've been writing posts on my visit to Malacca, Genting, Klang, KL, Langkawi... and I did not write anything on my own state, PERLIS...
Actually, Perlis is full of wonderful places to visit and I did nothing to promote them... It is a sin not to do so..
Well, for a start, here are a few shots taken in my own state of Perlis... Do enjoy them..

The entrance to the famous GUA KELAM (Cave of Darkness)

Another shot taken before entering GUA KELAM...

MALAYSIA vs VIETNAM....

  VS

Hmm... it's the Finals of the SEA Games soccer competition today at 1800 hrs local time, Thursday the 17th of December 2009. It's Malaysia versus Vietnam. And the whole of Malaysia is so excited about this match.. Why??
Firstly, it's been a long, long, time since Malaysia is in the Finals of a big competiton.. I think it's been 20 years that Malaysia last won the soccer's gold medal in this SEA Games. So...you can see how important the game is..and how excited Malaysians are...
Statistics says that Malaysia is currently ranked 160th in the world..(very bad).., and Vietnam is currently 130th. On paper, Vietnam should beat Malaysia easily.. In fact, they did defeat Malaysia 3-1 in the Group match last week.. But, tonight is another different ball game all together..
It's the Blue jersey for Malaysia tonight, and surprisingly, White for Vietnam.
Make your guest... who will win.??

p/s:
I choose Liverpool !!!  won this morning beating Wigan 2-1. Torres scored....

SAD, SAD DAY FOR GOLF.....@ TIGER WOODS...

At last, Tiger Woods made it official in his website..., choosing Family, leaving Golf....indefinitely, of course..
Well.., that's the best solution, Tiger... What have been done could not be changed. Look at the future.. You have your family to look after, especially your two kids...

As for golf...., it will be another boring session to come. Remember last year when Tiger was out due to the knee operation? Remember how boring it was....? I didn't follow the live telecast at all.., for a year... When Tiger was playing, I would stay up with my three sons from midnight until the early hours, the following day... That's how fanatic we are towards you, Tiger Woods !!!
Long Live Tiger Woods !!! Hidup Malaysia !!!

Take a long break, Tiger.  We just have to wait.... as long as you wish....!!
Hu..hu...hu.....

TIGER WOODS....a real Tiger??

Tiger Woods - a household name everybody knows, from small kids to the grandpas and grandmas.. Can't blame him.., he's so well known.. Even if you don't know golf before, you will know what a birdie or a bogey is, because of what Tiger Woods have done to the sports world. My 7 year old kid could recognize him on the spot if shown his picture. So does my 78 year old father-in-law, who knows nothing about golf...
Lately, the whole world is shocked to hear the news about him... I had a difficult time explaining to my kids about the issue... So does my wife.. She will ask me twice if I'm really going out to play golf or the other "golf". Being a golfer myself, I tried to defend Tiger, of course. And the best solution is to say that "someone" have other agenda on this issue. My god, I hope that's the case....

My experience in coaching athletes helps me to understand what Tiger Woods is going through... It is a fact that athletes have a high percentage of tendency towards sexual activities compared to a normal person. That's because hormones in athletes are very active... Former athletes usually have lots of kids once they got married... Is that a fact?? Ask them...

Well, Mr. Woods..., whatever it is, just don't stop playing golf !! The world needs you in this field for what you have done. Just do what you are good at.... What you do behind close doors is your own business... We want to see what you do on the golf course...
By the way, Malaysia is hosting the PGA Tour event next year, 2010. Hope to see you in action at The Mines, Kuala Lumpur....
Good Luck Tiger Woods...!!!. You are a real TIGER !!!!

CHEMISTRY....oooo....

Woohh... besok Chemistry paper la... How important is this subject, hah??
1. It's the link between the other two pure science subject. That means if you're going to pursue into medicine or courses yang sewaktu dengannya, then Chemistry is the partner for your course. That why it is important. Having Biology as the core subject alone is not enough...
2. If you want to take engineering, besides Physics, the other partner is Chemistry.. If your choice is Petroleum Engineering (PE), Chemistry is a MUST....!! A, of course.... So does the other engineering courses...
3. If you opt to become a Chemist, of course your Chemistry must be A+ (according to the new grading system in SPM)...

Well guys... do your very, very best.... Don't look back. Prepare for your future !!!
Good Luck : Oney, Hanna, Fieza, Farahanim, Shahir (both), Aen, Fazilah, Amzar, Hanif, Intan, Humaira... who else.... oh yes, Mr Lee Keng Yap !!! Good Luck to you too...
Good Luck DERMARIANS !!!!

KLANG'S NIGHT MARKET....

The stalls at the night market....

Delicious foodstuffs waiting to be taken by customers...

Klang's speciality, I supposed... the "Pecal Kampung"...

He,he.... I've forgotten your size.....

l happened to take a stroll down town in Klang a moment ago and bumped into a night market. The stalls were just operating and I took these photos to share with you....
Have a nice day....

KLANG - THINGS NEVER CHANGE....

Look at the traffic in Klang... This is just one small part of the town...

Crows seen dating on lamp posts and trees everywhere in Klang....

I used to stay in Klang, Selangor, way back in the early 80's. In Teluk Gadung, to be precise... In those years, Klang was famous for its crows (burung gagak). Surprisingly, the crows are still around.. Things never change....
My one week stay in Klang brings back memories of the past... I used to teach in SMK Tengku Ampuan Rahimah and another school in Pandamaran, Port Klang. Maybe, I'll pay a visit to these two schools in a day or two if I'm free.
But, crows alone is just not about it in Klang. The town is just congested with cars these days.. My niece fetched me the other day and it took nearly 40 minutes from the hotel to her place in Taman Sri Andalas, a distance of about 3 km. The traffic was terrible....
I hope something will be done to ease these problems... Good Luck Klang !!!

GREETINGS FROM KLANG, SELANGOR....

The dark clouds approaching the Klang city.... a heavy storm in the making....

A view of Klang city from the 15th floor of the hotel I'm staying....

The Klang river with the new town (uptown) on the fore ground....

Just arrived in Klang, Selangor for an important meeting. Will stay for a week here. Klang is a busy city. Traffic is congested and you cannot afford to miss the jam... Well, have to live with it for the next 6 days...
At the moment I'm writing this post, a heavy storm is coming towards Klang.... It's 5.35 pm local time... I'm on the 15th floor of the Gold Course Hotel...

Ok, have a good day wherever you are.....Thailand (Chin), Sudan (Adam), Japan (Ferzalfie), Italy (Dr Sami), Icha (Indonesia), Syntra and Sephia (Malaysia) ......, just to name a few...
