BEIJING: Malaysia is expected to sign a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) with China soon on higher education degree as a catalyst to increase student-exchange between both countries.
Malaysian Ambassador to China, Datuk Iskandar Sarudin said that the agreement have been finalised.
The MRA will cover a wider field of studies apart from the traditional Chinese medicine and Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery programmes which were recognised by Malaysia.
Currently, there are 150 sponsored students studying Mandarin at the Beijing University of Foreign Studies.
He said Chinese Universities are planning to go global, while Malaysia had already opened its higher education sectors to the world.
Last November, Chinese President Hu Jintao met Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during his visit to Malaysia. Both leaders agreed that bilateral cooperation in the field of education would be intensified.
