When the UPSR results came out this morning nationwide, everybody was focused on how well did the students do... Every parents wanted to know how many "A"s did their child get.. No parents were asking how many "B"s or "C"s there were in their child's slip.
Reporters were reporting how many straight A students there were in the school. Photographers were taking pictures of those children getting straight As to be placed in tomorrow's newspapers, if possible in the front pages.. The Education Ministry announced that 10.2% of the UPSR students got straight As in the news bulletin in all TV channels... It seemed that the overall result this year is the best in four years... Nobody seemed to care about the unfortunate students who didn't get even an A...
Daeng Dhadyry and friends...What is this?? I thought the Ministry wanted to scrap off the UPSR and the PMR exams... If so, why make statements highlighting the percentage of straight A students? Having fun??
Now you see the glamour of exam results, eh ??
Precisely, that's the only way to judge students' achievements in schools. What other way? You can modified it 360 degrees or call it by other names like School Based Assessments or whatever... It's still an exam !!! People still want to know "how many A's did you get?"
So..you just cannot run away from EXAMs, do you??
Have a nice day.....
