The "Silver Catfish in Durian Paste" Dish...


Ever tasted the "gulai tempoyak ikan patin"?
It's a very famous dish in Temerloh, Pahang. That one dish that can fetch RM80 a plate....  Now, it is cook throughout Malaysia.
I happened to inherit the menu from my late mother.., and today I decided to cook the dish for our breaking of fast.
Let's learn how to cook the "Silver Catfish in Durian Paste Dish" or locally known as the "Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin":
 
The Ikan Patin (a local Malaysian type of catfish)
the catfish being washed with tamarind peel
the Durian paste or "tempoyak"
 put the onion, turmeric, ginger root, chillies, lemongrass into the "tempoyak" water
mix them well...
Boil at controlled heat... (small flame).
put the slices of catfish once the gravy starts to boil..

And there you have it... the silver catfish in durian paste gravy...

saya suka makan "Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin" bagos .
last year i travelled around malaysia and a local friend family mum served the TASTIEST (for me.. )dish I could try so far.
